The C5 countries of Algeria, Chad, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Africa have signed the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (ARCSS) as members of the African Union High Level Ad Hoc Committee at the African Union Commission.
“This is a reaffirmation and commitment of the African Union, especially the C5 countries to support the implementation of the Revitalized ARCSS,” said Ambassador Dr. Ismail Wais, IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan.
The AU Ad Hoc Committee welcomed the progress made in the implementation of the South Sudan Agreement and pledged their commitment and support to help fast-track the remaining tasks.
The Special Envoy urged the International Community and TROIKA in particular to also sign the Agreement as a gesture of goodwill and their continued support to the people of South Sudan.
